FAIR QUEEN

CIERRA PROVAN NAMED
2012 CONTRA COSTA COUNTY FAIR QUEEN

Cierra Provan has been named the 2012 Contra Costa County Fair Queen.  Provan will serve as an ambassador for the Fair during the next year, as well as serve as hostess for the 2012 Contra Costa County Fair, May 31 – June 3.

Provan was chosen as Fair Queen because of her ongoing commitment to Contra Costa County agricultural programs, her leadership skills, and for her participation in numerous community service projects.

Provan has served in leadership roles, both as the president and as treasurer, in Brentwood FFA, where she developed public speaking and leadership skills. She has also worked closely with children and young adults to educate them on how to raise livestock and the importance of Contra Costa County’s agricultural belt.

Additionally, Provan has served in numerous community service projects, including serving as Jr. Chairperson for the Knightsen 4H annual ham dinner fundraiser, participating in the Adopt-A-Family Christmas Charity and at Adopt-a-Child events, serving Thanksgiving dinners at the Veterans Hall, participating in numerous FFA events, and volunteering at various canned food drives. She has also attended several mission trips with her church and youth group.

“Being selected as Fair Queen provides me the opportunity to share the experiences I’ve had as an ambassador for the agricultural community,” said Provan. “I look forward to utilizing my leadership skills and working with the community, and I will embrace the role of Contra Costa County’s Fair Queen.”

Provan recently completed an internship at Brentwood Family Pet Care. Upon graduation in June from Liberty High School, she will attend Modesto Junior College to take courses towards a major in biology and a minor in animal science. Her goal is to transfer to a four-year university and obtain a doctorate in veterinary medicine.
